Workshop dates: 13th July until 22nd July 2012 (Workshop Programme – subject to changes)

Expected number of participants: 27

Responsible Person: Martin Westphal

Workshop language is English

Deadline for Applications: 15th Novembre 2011

Target group

We invite all those people

  • who are interested to perceive and to immerse themselves in a foreign city
  • who have in some way to do with the topic ‘health’
  • who want to express their innovative ideas in art objects.

The participants need not to have already worked artistically!  But for the workshop it is important that the participants are willing to learn about artistic expression, and to learn how to  transfer information by the creation of art objects.

Main activities / Workshop programme

Through the example of the town of Goslar interested people can learn how art and artistic activity can give an  innovative contribution to the development of new ‘horizons’ for a city which is willing to change. The topic "Health Art mobilises Goslar" will be implemented by all participants creating individual art objects.

In the morning the participants go to the city centre and try to discover and to get aware of what kind of future opportunities in the health sector exists for Goslar.

They discuss their ideas with artists and citizens of the town.

In the afternoon the participants work on the artistic realization of the impressions and ideas they have gained. Each participant creates an (or several) individual work(s) of art. Results are presented to the group of workshop participants and to the interested public.

Expected results (particularly in terms of learning outcomes for the participants)

  • The participants have learned about the relationship between perception and physical activity in the reference area (Town Goslar) -  physical movement is not only good for health but also supports the development of innovative ideas. The discussion with residents of the city gives additional information about the “Health town Goslar"  and completes the impressions the participants have gained.
  • The participants have learned  that the development of innovative ideas becomes easier through artistic activities when working on real objects. The form of artistic expression - within the framework of existing possibilities - can be chosen freely.
  • The ideas contributing to the workshop topic "Health Art mobilises Goslar" have been ‘materialised’ in the works of art of the participants. In exchange with the trainers of the workshop the participants  have improved their artistic skills and abilities. The participants have presented their products to the interested public and have become aware of the significance of their innovative contributions to the workshop topic.
